The Purpose of the Disabilities and Accessibility Task Force is to

• identify how SBL can best support scholars who are differently abled;
• serve as allies of scholars who are differently abled;
• communicate regularly with the ED; and
• provide a report including recommendations within two years of the Task Force’s constitution, if possible by the April 2024 Council meeting. Recommendations might include policies, practices, and programs to assure the full participation in the SBL by people who are differently abled or disabled, in particular at conferences, and their contribution to teaching, research, and scholarship, as well as the advancement of biblical studies as a discipline.
